PERSONAL CARE HOME
Residences that provide shelter, meals, supervision, activities, and assistance with personal care tasks, typically for older people, or people with physical, behavioral health, or cognitive disabilities who are unable to care for themselves but do not need a nursing home. Offers housing, meals, and assistance with medications and personal care tasks.
Important Notes: Personal Care Homes are categorized as either Type A or Type B:
In a Type A facility, a patient must be able to evacuate the building within 12 minutes should an emergency occur. Type A facilities prefer patients to leave should they become bed-bound and not be able to evacuate themselves or follow directions.
In a Type B facility, they will be taken care of by staff should an emergency occur. Type B facilities allow patients to age in place until the end.
